YESTERDAY’S SUNSET AND MOONRISE

I’d watched clouds scud across the sky most of the day, wondering if they’d occlude the November full moon, the largest and brightest supermoon of 2025.  The sunset and moonrise were also only minutes apart, making the sky lighter than usual.  I headed outdoors at 5 p.m. and was delighted at the beautiful sunset reflected in the many clouds.  Then I saw the moon rising behind the last of the fall color (and ugly telephone pole and wires).  As soon as it rose above the treeline, the clouds completely swallowed it.  I waited.  Occasionally, I’d see a smudge of brightness in the sky, but it wasn’t until the clouds parted an hour later that I caught the full moon.  Ahhh, nature!
