Fall Color Peaking

What a difference a week makes!  Vistas and hills ablaze with vibrant color; tunnels of trees inviting with their brilliant hues; and stand-alone trees dazzling in shades of salmon and yellow.  The outdoors beckons us to its brilliant show.

Fall Colors POP!

It happened almost overnight.  We’re not quite at peak yet, but there’s plenty of vibrant color out there.  With the sunny weekend that’s predicted, it’s the perfect time for a color tour around the peninsula.  Enjoy!

Fall Colors Slow to Percolate

By mid-October, the North Country is usually awash in fall color.

Leaf peepers who flock to the area may be disappointed that most treeline vistas are only showing a slight change in color.

Just an occasional tree on my color tour was coming into splashy foliage.

  And the hills...

...they are displaying at best an occasional spot of red or orange on a mostly green background.

But in another week, I bet we’ll be seeing more vibrant colors, as shown on this tree in the Village.

Crunch Time

One of my favorite parts of fall is the arrival of crispy, sweet apples

Area apple trees are currently heavy laden with these tasty fruits.

Perfect red and yellow beauties look ripe and ready for harvest.

Lots of signs indicate that the labor-intensive work of hand picking these apples is already underway.

Transport boxes are filling with these delicious and popular fruits.  You'll find your favorite kinds at local farm markets all across the North Country.

Can't resist a sample?  Help yourself!  Crunch, crunch, crunch.
