ARCADIA MARSH NATURE PRESERVE

Off M-22 south of the village of Arcadia lies one of few remaining Great Lakes Coastal Marshes along Lake Michigan’s Lower Peninsula shoreline.  Arcadia Marsh encompasses over four hundred acres devoted to hiking, birding and other pursuits.  A boardwalk meanders through the preserve making it accessible to most everyone.  Last Saturday, I went there for a morning outing with my friends Don and Diana Burton.  The fall marshlands were lovely and we photographed the wetlands and birds.   Besides the scenery, I got good pictures of a Rusty Blackbird and a Great Blue Heron.  We topped off the outing with root beer floats at the A & W just outside Frankfort.
