I MISSED ’EM

When I was in Florida visiting my brother a month ago, I hoped to see Roseate Spoonbills, but I was too early.  A couple days ago they arrived at the back pond right in his neighborhood!  These interesting waterbirds are such a mix of beauty and weirdness.  Thanks for sharing these wonderful images, Mark.

  1. I only ever saw one in Aripeka and couldn't get a clear image of it. Some birds are harder than others to photograph. You will have lots of beautiful sandhill crane images for us, I'm sure. And will you be involved in the count?

    1. Yes, I’m working on a crane blog soon. They’re very active right now. I saw them flying overhead, bugling next to a pond, and jumping up and down in a preliminary courtship dance. Mating season brings out the craziness. I will count, most likely.
